Kobe still doin’ it BIG, and now just passed Mr. Basketball, Michael Jordan, for THIRD PLACE on the All-Time Points list!!! It was inevitable, as plastic man Kobe is still averaging 25.4 ppg in his 19th NBA season! He scored his 32,293rd point on a pair of free-throws with 5:24 remaining in the second quarter to put the Lakers ahead 38-32 on Sunday afternoon, passing his greatness, MJ, who finished his career with 32,292 career points.
“I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone,” Jordan told the Associated Press. “He’s obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball. I’ve enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.” – latimes
MJ is proud of his understudy Kobe for his feat. Kobe and MJ share similarities in their tenacity to the bucket, their on-the-ball defense, and clutch shots (of course). I feel the only difference is that Kobe sets up more like a shooting guard/small forward as he often backs his opponents down, break dribbles, and spins away from the defender to the bucket. MJ faced up more face-to-face and broke down players with his crossover. Check out MJ commentary above and video below!
