Some say age is defiant, some say Yahoo! Sports completely copied my style, but who is to say that 50-year old Rafael Palmeiro, a Cubano former MLB baseball star, is gonna play baseball again! Well, Palmeiro is set to join his 25-year old son, Patrick, in an independent Texas league! Rafael, a 20-year veteran 10 years removed from the game, will play the three remaining games of the season alongside his son, an infielder for the Sugar Land Skeeters. The Skeeters are out of the independent Atlantic League, an eight-team association outside Major League Baseball’s traditional farm system. Rafael does not only get a chance to fulfill the “field of dreams” in real life, but can also re-hash his name, as he tested positive for steroids late in his career (2005) with the Baltimore Orioles. If it wasn’t for the steroids, Rafael may have made it into the HOF! Check out his career stats!
